WATCH: Incredible Footage Shows Python, Honey Badger and a Pair of Jackals Fighting in Botswana

Move over, WWE SmackDown — here comes BWA Safari Showdown!

Tourist Roselyne Kerjosse happened to be in the right place at the right time last month when she captured an incredible wildlife interaction while on a safari in Chobe Park, Botswana, Caters News reports.

The up-close footage showed a vicious, three-way fight between a massive python, a resilient honey badger and two persistent jackals — and despite the odds of the match likely going in the jackals’ favor, the results surprisingly proved otherwise.

At the beginning of the video captured by Kerjosse, 60, the honey badger seemed to be struggling as the python wrapped itself around the large black animal in an effort to squeeze its prey to death.

However, the honey badger was rescued from the near-death experience when a pair of black-backed jackals came running into the camera shot and began attacking the snake, which allowed for the large black mammal to escape.

Honey badger versus a python and two jackals

It appeared the jackals then expected to claim the python as their own after the encounter — clearly as a favor for the rescue — but the honey badger wasn’t so convinced.

Instead, the honey badger began a vicious game of tug-of-war with the jackals as they fought over the limp snake.

With the honey badger on one end and a jackal on the other, the wild animals scuffled for the snake, as the second jackal attempted to distract the honey badger by biting him from behind.

But in true honey badger fashion, the animal did not seem to care who or what was in front of him and aggressively fended off the predators, showing off his terrifyingly sharp teeth in the process.

To the surprise of the tourists who witnessed the South African showdown, the resilient honey badger managed to successfully fight off the two jackals and drag the now-dead python toward a bush to be consumed by himself.

According to the Botswana Wildlife Guide, honey badgers are “renowned for their ferociousness, attacking lions and buffalo if feeling threatened” and often hunt snakes and beehives as prey.

The Chobe National Park is one of the best places to see the elusive animal, the guide says.

Black-backed jackals are considered to be “opportunistic feeders” that are “often seen around carcasses and kills” and aren’t afraid to “slip in and steal a morsel from a lion kill while the pride is still eating.”

Despite occasionally being the smaller animal in a fight, the jackal is known to “stand its ground against other predators,” which include hyenas and leopards.

As for the python, they typically consume small mammals, antelope, warthog, herons and other animals, National Geographic reports. Though the snake lacks venom, it can “kill animals by encircling and literally squeezing the life out of them.”

According to the outlet, the pythons are able to eat these larger animals because of their flexible jaws and skin — their lower jaws are loosely attached to their skulls — which allows them to open their mouths very wide.

Why Taylor Swift Said Demi Moore's Memoir Was One of Her Favorite Books of 2019

From one highest-paid superstar to another, Taylor Swift has Demi Moore’s back.

In PEOPLE’s latest cover story, the singer — who is one of four entertainers honored as People of the Year — reveals one of her favorite books of 2019 was the actress’s memoir, Inside Out.

“I couldn’t put it down. You read it in two days!” says Swift. “I was thinking about how when she was the highest-paid actress, she was just punished ruthlessly for it. That’s so wrong, and she was treated so badly in that moment.”

In Moore’s New York Times best-selling memoir, the 57-year-old star got candid about the ups and downs in her life as she balanced her career and raised three daughters while navigating three marriages (including to ex-husbands Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.”

“I feel like finally she’s getting the last laugh because [now] people are like ‘Yeah! That’s great that you were the highest-paid actress,'” says Swift. “She owns a lot in the book, and it’s really well-written.”

Moore’s memoir begins by recounting her childhood moving around the country before her family settled down in southern California, and her traumatizing rape at age 15.

“It’s exciting, and yet I feel very vulnerable,” Moore previously said of her book’s release. “There is no cover of a character. It’s not somebody else’s interpretation of me.”

As for herself, Swift has similarly embraced her own voice — and power — more than ever as she approaches her 30th birthday on Dec. 13.

The star was named by Forbes as the highest-paid celebrity in 2019 and reportedly raked in $185 million due in large part to her massive Reputation Stadium Tour.

After wrapping the tour, Swift — who is gearing up for her new tour, Lover Fest — says she felt empowered to write music in a way she was never able to before.

“There was so much theatricality in the darkness of reputation. It was secretly a love story, but it was also filled with angst, rebellion and this vengeful taking back of your life,” she says. “Lover ended up being the album [where I was no longer] answering to something. In the past, I’ve definitely used my criticism as a jumping-off point for creativity. With reputation, I’d said everything I needed to say. I’d been tried in every possible way people could throw things at me, and I felt like now I just get to create.”

The Crown: Inside the Harrowing Aberfan Mining Disaster — and Its Effect on Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visit Aberfan on Oct. 29, 1966

October 21, 1966, the day when 116 children and 28 adults died in Aberfan, South Wales, after rain-soaked coal waste slipped down a mountain engulfing a school, marks one of the most harrowing events in Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

The Aberfan disaster was always going to be a key storyline in season three of The Crown – as writer Peter Morgan strove to tell the tale of one of peacetime’s darkest days though the eyes of the local people, the Queen and senior royal family members.

The Queen didn’t visit the site of the tragedy until eight days after it occurred, despite husband Prince Philip going sooner. Her brother-in-law Lord Snowdon, the photographer Tony Armstrong-Jones, also headed down to Wales as soon as he heard the news, making “it his job to visit bereaved relatives,” Robert Lacey quotes Prime Minister Harold Wilson saying in his book The Crown, The Inside History. He said it was “probably the worst day of my life,” Hugo Vickers writes in The Crown Dissected.

But the delay by the Queen is something that has haunted her. Hugo Vickers, whose book (excerpted in The Times) has just been published, confirms that her various biographers have stressed this point. Providing possible insight into her delayed visit, Sally Bedell Smith quoted the Queen as saying, “People will be looking after me. Perhaps they’ll miss some poor child that might have been found under the wreckage.”

Writer Morgan uses Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson as the vehicle through which to show how courtiers and others advised her to go and meet survivors in the “Aberfan” episode. And it has emerged that actor Jason Watkins channeled some of his own painful experience when acting the key scene when the PM tells the Queen (Olivia Colman) about the need to go. As he filmed, he was thinking of his own grief at the loss of his daughter Maude, who died of sepsis at just 2 years old over Christmas in 2010. “Grief makes you angry,” Watkins told The Times recently. “It was like I was almost teaching her what I, Jason, had felt. In a way I could speak for [the parents]. I correct her and say ‘Well, I think this is what you should do.’”

“Wilson had an emotional intelligence and I think those scenes’ gentleness was born out of what happened to us.”

He adds that the scene that depicts the desperate search for bodies was “most difficult for me.”

“I could hardly get my voice out. It just sort of disappeared into me. You did feel you were there,” he said.

The scene showing the Queen visiting the home of a local resident is based on her calling on local politician Jim Williams “where she stayed and spoke with the family for nearly 20 minutes and emerged visibly emotional,” Lacey writes. (He also notes that the harsh media scrutiny following her response to tragedy was repeated when Diana, Princess of Wales died in 1997.)

Elizabeth has visited the Welsh village of Aberfan several times during her reign, and Prince Charles made a poignant trip to the south Wales valley village for the 50th anniversary of the disaster in October 2016.

With many survivors from the village still alive, it was a tough episode to get right and not cause further heartache and distress for the families of those who died that day. But it has largely drawn complimentary reviews and, while the critic from Wales’s national newspaper, the Western Mail, said it could have gone further in exploring how the disaster could have been avoided and the lack of accountability for those to blame, she praised it for capturing the awful reality. The scene is “well-executed, from the panic as the slag heap starts to subside to the moment of devastation as the huge slip comes crashing into a classroom full of children,” reporter Kathryn Williams wrote.

“The depiction of the disaster is absolutely gut-wrenching.”

Is Queen Elizabeth Planning to Retire When She Turns 95 in Favor of Son Prince Charles?

As she navigated the choppy waters of her son Prince Andrew’s recent departure from public life, there is renewed speculation that Queen Elizabeth may be wanting to retire from public life herself.

At 93, she confronted her 59-year-old son following his shocking interview about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and he said he would “step back” from his royal duties. Less than 25 minutes after Andrew’s bombshell statement, the Queen was seen carrying out a public engagement, even able to quip about the date: her 72nd wedding anniversary.

Her steadfastness during this outing was significant in terms of highlighting the Queen’s position as head of the family. But as the furor about Andrew grew and more organizations distanced themselves from him, it also emerged that she leaned on her son and heir Prince Charles, 71, and grandson Prince William, 37, for advice and counsel. That brought renewed reports of the Queen wanting to pull back from public life in favor of Charles — in 18 months’ time when the Queen turns 95.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles during the State Opening of Parliament on October 14, 2019

The claim first came up in a respected biography of the Prince of Wales, by Robert Jobson, in fall 2018. In Charles At Seventy, he wrote that it was likely the Queen will “trigger a period of regency,” in which she will grant her eldest son the “full power to reign.” Jobson wrote. [A regent is a person appointed to rule because the monarch is unable.]

“One senior aide told me that the Queen has given the matter of her passing hears considerable thought and believes, that, if she is still alive at ninety-five she will consider passing the reign to Charles,” Jobson continued.

A spokesman from Prince Charles’s office tells PEOPLE on Thursday that there haven’t been any such discussions. “There are no plans for any change in arrangements at the age of 95 — or any other age,” the spokesman says.

A palace source adds there was some over-interpretations going on about Charles’s role in the decision to downgrade Andrew’s public role in the wake of his disastrous interview with the BBC, reiterating that it was the Queen’s decision to have Andrew step back from his royal duties.

Buckingham Palace will not comment on the record. Family insiders, however, point out that the Queen made a solemn declaration when she was a young woman about serving the monarchy for her entire life. She said “when she was 21 that she was going to devote her life to the nation, and she has kept that vow to the letter,” the late Hon. Mrs. Margaret Rhodes, the Queen’s first cousin, previously told PEOPLE.

Sally Bedell Smith, respected biographer of both the Queen and Charles, points out there is a process under the various Regency acts outlining a very specific process: It requires the determination by family, senior courtiers and civil servants that the monarch is unable to carry out her duties. Bedell Smith adds, “The Queen can’t just wave a queen wand and say Charles you are my regent. It’s not her call – and it’s not his call.”

Concessions have been made to the Queen’s age in recent years, though. She has handed over foreign travel to Prince Charles and his siblings. Charles, Prince William and Princess Anne also carry out energy-draining investitures on her behalf. (In fact, Charles did one at the palace on Thursday.) William has also carried out an audience recently and others help entertain foreign guests. Future queen Kate Middleton was on-hand on Thursday to welcome world leaders alongside Queen Elizabeth at a palace reception in honor of the 70th anniversary of NATO. Events such as laying wreaths at the memorials in London for veterans are also now carried out by Charles, with the Queen choosing to watch instead.

Bedell Smith adds, “Under the constitution, only the Queen can give a Royal Assent to legislation, only she can appoint a Prime Minster and be consulted and encourage and warn in dealings with the Prime Minister. There is a whole range of functions that go on behind the walls of the palace.”

Amid speculation of retirement, a palace source insists the monarch’s schedule continues to be a full one.

“The Queen is as busy as ever in terms of audiences, investitures and meetings. It is business as usual,” the source says.

But experienced royal writer Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty, point outs, “It is unchartered territory — in that we have never had a monarch who has lived as long. So there is no precedent.

“I don’t think it would be unreasonable to step back at the age of 95 – she would still be queen but would be enjoying more downtime. And given that she could live as long as her mother [who was 101], I think it is possible she could consider [a Regency].”

90K Packages Are Stolen Every Day in NYC — Here Are Expert Methods to Keep Yours Safe

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — and one of the most stressful if you’re one of the many holiday shoppers ordering gifts online.

Just as the Grinch stole Christmas, more than 1.7 million packages across the country are stolen or go missing each and every day, The New York Times reported — a figure that adds up to more than $25 million in lost goods or services.

In New York City alone, a reported 90,000 packages vanish every day, an increase of about 20 percent from four years ago, the Times reported. In Denver, there’s been a 68 percent increase in reported cases of package theft, while as of mid-November, Washington D.C. saw 1,846 cases.

Even so, major online retailers such as Amazon have developed improved methods aimed at keeping packages safe, including the Amazon Ring, a home-security device in which users get alerts when motion is detected by their front door.

Select models even allow users to see, hear and speak to visitors from a phone, tablet or PC.

Amazon also offers a real-time tracking service for packages that allows customers to make arrangements so they can be home when their goods are delivered — or at least have someone fetch them if they’re out.

The company has gotten even craftier, too, with an app called Key that allows users to have packages delivered to the trunk of their car for safekeeping.

They’ve also embraced secure delivery sites, like the locker system in which customers can send their package to self-service kiosks to pick up at a more convenient time. The lockers hold packages for three days before they’re sent back for a refund, and are located in more than 900 cities and towns across the country.

Other companies are jumping on board, too, like UPS, which is working with a technology company to make it so drivers can deposit orders for apartment buildings in locked package rooms, the Times reported.

Meanwhile, FedEx’s vice president of retail and consumer marketing Dennis Shirokov told WLS-TV that the company will hold packages for up to five days for free so that customers can find a suitable time to pick them up without the risk of having them swiped.

Police across the country have offered suggestions, too, like the Chicago Police Department, which shared its ideas on the app Nextdoor.

The department encouraged people to sign up for delivery alerts so they were aware when their package had arrived, to require a signature for all deliveries, or to have packages shipped to their place of work.

The New York Police Department shared similar suggestions, and urged people to send packages to friends or relatives who they knew would be home, or get insurance on expensive buys.

Grey's Anatomy's Groundbreaking Rape Kit Episode Increased Searches About Rape, Sexual Assault: Report

Grey’s Anatomy is continuing to break barriers.

According to a recent Reuters Health report, an episode of the beloved ABC medical drama — which aired in March and centered on sexual assault — had an immense impact on viewers. The groundbreaking episode, titled “Silent All These Years,” featured a woman named Abby (Khalilah Joi), who was violently raped.

As audiences recall, doctors Jo Karev (Camilla Luddington) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) tended to Abby, who agreed to have a rape kit done. The episode showed in detail what is involved in a rape kit — and it was awkward, uncomfortable, seemingly endless, and a television first.

Because of Abby’s physical and emotional trauma, she expressed a fear towards men. In an effort to make her feel safe, Jo and Teddy wheeled Abby on a gurney down a hallway, which was filled on both sides by female hospital employees (played almost entirely by the women who work on the series). The powerful moment was met with an outpouring of praise by viewers.

At the end of the episode, Grey’s star Ellen Pompeo encouraged viewers to ask for help if they were personally affected by sexual violence. She explained how to reach the free National Sexual Assault Hotline operated by the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, or RAINN (800-856-HOPE or via online chat

In an effort to study the impact of the episode and Pompeo’s message, researchers analyzed Google and Twitter trends for two weeks before and one week after the episode aired. According to Reuters Health, conversations about RAINN on social media drastically increased after the episode aired.

“Engagements with the @RAINN Twitter account and tweets mentioning ‘sexual assault hotline’ increased by 1,097% the day after the episode,” Trevor Torgerson, a medical student at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, told the outlet.

Additionally, the National Sexual Assault Hotline call volume increased by 43 percent in the 48 hours after the episode and the volume of searches for the term “RAINN” was 41 percent larger than expected; search volumes for “rape” and “sexual assault” were 8 percent and 9 percent higher, Torgerson and fellow colleagues at OSU discovered, according to Reuters Health.

According to the outlet, studies have shown viewers can be spurred to take action after learning about something on television.

“TV storylines can have a powerful impact on viewers, and when coupled with an action item, such as a hotline or website, we often see a significant spike in outreach directly after the show and public service announcement,” Kate Langrall Folb, director of Hollywood, Health & Society at the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center in Beverly Hills told the outlet.

In March, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes tweeted about the importance of the episode.

“Making scenes like this is what Shondaland is all about,” said Rhimes. “So proud.”

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual abuse, text “STRENGTH” to the Crisis Text Line at 741-741 to be connected to a certified crisis counselor.

10.30pm Tottenham news LIVE: Godfrey £25m transfer interest, Eriksen to be sold in January, Lo Celso £7m discount – The Sun

JOSE MOURINHO'S Tottenham made it three straight wins with a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth.

And next up is a personal battle for the Special One, with a trip to former club Manchester United.

Follow all the latest updates and transfer gossip from North London here…

  • TOTTENHAM are looking to sign Norwich's Ben Godfrey in January, according to Football Insider.

The Canaries' centre-back would reportedly be available for £25m.

Despite the arrival of Jose Mourinho, Spurs have not yet been able to agree new deals with ageing duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

And the North Londoners are now set to rekindle their interest in the England Under-21 star who they attempted to sign in the summer.

  • TOTTENHAM will push to sell Christian Eriksen in January.

They are keen to avoid losing the Dane, who will be out of contract at the end of the season, for free in the summer.

The Standard reports Spurs will accept bids of less than £40m for the midfielder.

Eriksen has so far refused to sign a new deal, despite reportedly being offered a wage in the region of £200,000-per-week, which would make him one of the club's top earners.

  • THE feelgood factor is in full flow at Spurs right now.

  • JOSE Mourinho has certainly got the best out of Dele Alli since arriving at Spurs and he has been heaping praise on the England man.

The Portuguese is used to working with some of the game's best and believes Alli has all the hallmarks of a player who can go on to be a world star.

Mourinho said: “Dele has amazing potential, again we are going to try and develop this talent to be consistent and be great for club and national team. That is what we are going to do.

“He wants, clearly he wants and we are going to try and give everything to reach this level.”

  • MICHAEL OWEN has given his take on the United-Spurs game.

In writing for BetVictor, the former striker predicted a draw. Yawn.

He noted: “United shared four goals and the points with Villa on Sunday and it would not surprise me if we saw a similar result midweek when Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford for the first time since being sacked as United manager 12 months ago.

“Both teams have scored and conceded in their last four games while Spurs have shipped two goals in all three fixtures since the Portuguese boss replaced Mauricio Pochettino in north London. It promises to be a terrific occasion and one I see finishing with honours even.”

Lil Nas X, Normani and Tyler The Creator Top Forbes 30 Under 30 List

What do Lil Nas X, Normani and Tyler, The Creator all have in common? Outside of their unparalleled talent, creativity and flair, they have officially landed spots on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2020.

It’s no surprise that 20-year-old instant sensation Lil Nas X has made his mark on the renowned list. The musician rose to fame in what feels like record time after releasing his fan favorite hit song “Old Town Road.”

Last December, he uploaded the track to an independent music service called Amuse. The song quickly began racking up streams and climbed to the top of Billboard’s Hot Country chart. It was later controversially removed from the list in April. Still, the rapper believed in his dream and recruited country star Billy Ray Cyrus to make a remix. In an ironic turn of events, the revamped version went viral and has since made history by becoming the longest-running No. 1 single to ever top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Lil Nas X

“Last year in October, as a struggling artist starting to lose faith in what I could be, I went looking for beats on YouTube,” the rapper shared in an emotional post on his Instagram.

“I remember clicking on so many generic sounding beats trying to find the right one for me. When suddenly I came across a country-trap sounding masterpiece. I immediately knew I would make something special out of it.”

The song is one-of-a-kind indeed. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus won the Country Music Award for musical event of the year award for their remix of “Old Town Road,” making the young rapper the first openly gay male performer to ever win at the CMAs.

Normani, who broke into music as a member of girl group Fifth Harmony, is making major strides in her career as a solo artist. She departed from the group in 2018 after six years of singing alongside members Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane. During her leap to a solo career, Normani told PEOPLE it was a “good time” to find her own footing.

In August, the pop star, 23, debuted the music video for her single “Motivation” — a nod to African American culture — and fans were highly impressed. While channeling pop legends like Beyoncé, she added her unique dance skills to the video.

“I told the director, ‘I want this to be as black as possible,’” she told Cosmo. “I was like, let’s show black culture. Why does pop music have to be so white? Why don’t we make it a little bit more me?” In doing so, Normani touched the hearts and ears of many.

Tyler, The Creator

Tyler, The Creator, who originally rose to stardom as a teenage member of Odd Future, has since released five solo albums — each landing spots in the top five Billboard’s 200 list. Tyler is now making waves in the fashion industry as a designer. He is the founder of clothing company Golf Wang and Camp Flog Gnaw, a music festival.
